Celebrating Excellence: Founders Classical Academy – Leander Alum to Attend West Point

By Marissa Martin, ResponsiveEd

Some students make a lasting impact not just through their academic excellence but also through their leadership and service. Sydney Quirk, a 2024 graduate of Founders Classical Academy – Leander, is a prime example of such a student.

Throughout her time at the Leander campus, Sydney has been an active member of the National Honor Society and student leadership programs. Additionally, she served as Varsity volleyball team captain, played principal viola in the school orchestra, and holds a campus discus record in track and field.

With the guidance of faculty and staff at the school, Sydney has excelled in the classroom and has also shown a strong desire to serve her country post-graduation. Her journey towards military service began with the support of Texas Congressman John Carter, who nominated her for appointments to three U.S. military academies, including the United States Military Academy West Point, the Air Force Academy, and Naval Academy. Her work with Congressman Carter over the past three years has led to summers immersed in Military Service Academy programs, preparing for a future career in the military.

Recently, Sydney announced that she will attend West Point this fall, with an intent of majoring in European Foreign Area Studies and Modern Languages. Upon completing her degree, she plans to graduate from the academy as a commissioned officer in the United States Army.

Sydney’s acceptance into West Point is not just a personal triumph but also highlights Founders Classical Academy of Leander’s commitment to fostering excellence and leadership in its students. As Sydney sets forth on this exciting journey, we look forward to seeing the incredible achievements and impact she will undoubtedly make.
